York Medical Practice is participating in the ‘Choice of GP Practice scheme’ therefore we can accept patients who live outside the practice catchment area. Living outside the practice catchment area may affect some referrals and we will not be able to offer home visits. Please check with the practice boundary map to see if this applies to you.
If you are ill while away from home or if you are not registered with a doctor but need to see one you can receive treatment from the local GP practice. You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This will allow you to be on the local practice list and still remain a patient of your permanent GP. You cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice in the town or area where you are already registered.
To register as a temporary patient please contact reception to check if you meet the criteria.
You can search for your postcode by clicking the magnifier in the top right corner of the map, this will indicate whether you live within the boundary or not.
