St Mary’s University

The York Medical practice manages the Health Centre at St Mary’s University. We advise all students residing on campus to register with us to ensure continuity of medical care. If you are living off campus you are welcome to join the practice.

The main registration is in September when students first arrive at the campus. If you cannot register then, we can register you at a later date. Please download a University Health Registration form and a NHS Registration form, complete these and bring them with you to the University Health Centre.

We list below the registration forms to enable you to print, fill in and bring them along at the point of registration.

As a patient at the University Health Centre you will be registered with the York Medical practice. This is separate and independent from other College services therefore, your medical records, consultations and subsequent treatments are strictly private and confidential.

All the usual NHS/GP services are freely available to registered patients, though you will have to pay for prescription charges unless you are still under 19 years or hold a current Exemption Certificate.

If you return to your home whilst on holiday within the United Kingdom and you require medical attention or advice then seek this help from your local Surgery. However, you need to apply as a Temporary Resident as you are already registered with the University Health Centre and therefore, you can access NHS services on a temporary basis without de-registering.
