Appointments with a doctor or nurse are spaced at 10 minute intervals unless longer has been requested by the clinician.
To help ensure our doctors and nurses run to time patients that arrive more than 10 minutes late for an appointment may be asked to rebook.
Standard Advanced Bookable Appointments
Doctors' appointments can be booked with a clinician of your choice up to 6 weeks in advance and can be for most medical matters. There are both male and female doctors and if you have a preference please let reception know when you make your appointment. If you have a long term condition or an ongoing issue it may be beneficial to see the same GP - please discuss this with our reception team and they will give you all of the options.
Nurse appointments can be booked up to 6 weeks in advance. The nurses can deal with a range of medical illnesses and a list of these can be found under nursing staff in the clinics section. Our nurse practitioner and nurse prescriber are able to prescribe medication.
If you have not already signed up for online access please speak to reception about registering.
Important information if you are booking an appointment through our online services
If you are booking an appointment through our online services please note:
- Our nurses are unable to see children under 12 years old.
- Blood tests cannot be booked online
- B12 injections cannot be booked online
Every day we have an Triage doctor available, one for the 8.00 am – 1.00 pm session and one for the 1.00 pm – 6.30 pm session.
If you feel you need to be seen by a clinician and you are not able to wait for a routine appointment you will be offered a telephone call from our Triage Doctor. The Doctor will call you back to discuss your needs and offer you the best service for you.
Doctors and nurses have requested not to be interrupted by telephone calls during their consultations. However, at the end of each morning's Surgery we have allocated a number of six pre-bookable telephone consultation slots with each doctor and nurse. Reception staff will take your details and telephone number and the doctor or nurse will try and return your call as soon as possible. Please make sure you can take the call as the doctor or nurse may not leave a message or voicemail.
The 28 GP Practices within the London Borough of Richmond have joined together to form the Richmond General Practice Alliance, (RGPA). The RGPA is working on ways to develop primary care for patients within the Borough. Two Practices have been nominated as HUB practices and each will have a GP available from 8:00am to 8:00pm, seven days a week. Our registered patients will be able to see a clinician within or outside our Practice working hours who will be able to access their medical records. Patients will be offered appointments at the HUB by our Practice staff and by our out-of-hours team when calling in to the Practice. Patients will also be able to ask for a HUB appointment if they feel those appointment times are more suited to their schedule.
The HUB Practices are:
Teddington Memorial Hospital, Hampton Road, Teddington, TW11 OJL
Essex House Surgery, Station Road, Barnes, SW13 0LW
Appointments at a HUB Surgery can only be made via our Reception or the Out Of Hours team and you should not contact the HUB Surgeries’ receptions direct.
